I am sure its just the flu, but last night I was in so much pain, I was seriously messed up. I am guessing the horrible headache, neck pains and body aches were courtesy of the flu - but last night I didn't care. I just wanted pain killers.
I never want pain killers. I compressed my c6 nerve root and only took pain killers for the first week when I was in out of the ER and urgent care. Pain killers- not my thing. I felt so crappy coming in from my run last night that I never even showered or changed out of my workout clothes. I am admitting here for all of you to judge - I still have them on. I just hurt too much to move. I managed to get the kids in bed and feed the animals, but that was it.
That said...
You know how you know you are sick, when you think about going to ER to get pain meds for your unbelievably bad headache and then remember the new medical students and interns have just arrived. And yet, you still consider it, until you realize the horrible neck pain you have will probably yield a lumbar puncture and you would rather lay writing in pain in your bed than have as student sticking a large gauge needle near your spinal cord as she learns the procedure ITRW for the first time. All I could think was if the c6 injury was a ten on the pain scale and my neck and head last night were a 8 or 9 - I was perfect for a freshly minted med student to learn on. Really healthy overall- probably just suffering from a virus - but enough cause to do some fun invasive procedures. I chose to writhe.
That was me last night. Somehow today the neck and head pain are better or the rest of my muscle aches, joint pain, sore throat, ear aches, etc. have just caught up so no one area of discomfort distinguishes itself from the others.
Mr. Zombie is on a run for thera-flu, OTC painkillers and soup. The kids are both in their cribs as they too are ill and it sounds like the Commander might have just puked, again, in her crib. I just suctioned out horrible green and blood tinged mucus from Petunia's nasal cavity. Last night, I was only able to rouse myself one time to do a needed diaper change and eye de-crusting for the Commander. We are a vile little family.
OK, must got see if its time for another round of clean sheets and elmo washings. The worst thing is that the muscles in my fingers and wrists hurt so grabbing or twisting anything causes serious discomfort. At least I cannot breathe out of my nose so there is an upside to this all.
